Discovering My Journey to a Proper Human Diet

I began gaining weight around the age of 8. I wasn't a super heavy child but I was heavier than most of my classmates. By high school I weighed over 200 pounds. By that time, I had tried low fat diet, soup diet, cabbage soup diet and calorie counting. In the 11th grade I began going to Nutri System. I lost 60 pounds on Nutri System and actually kept it off for a few years.
My 20's, 30's, and 40's were just more years of yo-yo dieting. I would lose a few, gain even more. I tried juicing, vegetarian diet, another soup diet (recommended by my doctor) and other fad diets that didn't feel sustainable because I was always hungry and I wanted to enjoy food with my family.
Fast forward to March 18, 2024. My family was having dinner at our friend's house and I stepped on their bathroom scales. What I saw was devastating. I was almost 300 pounds. I walked back to the table and looked at my husband and said "OK we have to do something." My husband had been listening to Dr. Jordan Peterson's podcast talking about how he and his daughter had healed themselves by doing an elimination diet. From there we discovered "Carnivore diet." We started carnivore on March 19, 2024, and noticed changes very quickly. By day three I knew my body was starting to heal. By week five, I told my husband through tears "I can never go back."
It has been a slow process for me, but I have healed so many things already. I no longer have pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, heart palpitations and chest pains, arthritis pain, knee pain, or dry eyes. My rosacea, which was pretty severe, is much lighter. I have lost around 80 pounds so far. I no longer get out of breath just getting back in the bed from going to the bathroom at night. One of the things I like most about a Proper Human Diet is that I no longer have cravings. I don't think about food ALL DAY! like I used to. Sure, I get hungry, but I don't think about what I'm going to eat next while I'm already eating a meal. I'm no longer hangry if I don't eat within a certain amount of time.
And my husband....
My husband was a severe diabetic for 20+ years. He had been on nearly every prescription medication for diabetes and his numbers kept getting worse. He has completely reversed his diabetes, gotten off all medications for diabetes and high blood pressure and lost around 45 pounds. Even my kids eat a carnivore diet.
I started sharing my journey with anyone and everyone who would listen. So many times over the past 2 years I have wished I had known what proper human nutrition was many years ago so that I wouldn't have gotten in the shape I was in to begin with. I wished I had known I could heal my body of literally every chronic disease just by changing my diet. I wished I had known that most chronic diseases have the same starting point: Chronically High Insulin. I also wished I had known that weight gain is also a result of chronically high insulin.
So..... I wanted to help people who struggle with weight loss and Type 2 Diabetes and let them know that there is hope. I became a Certified Health Coach through Dr. Berry's PHD Academy.
